So excited about 2012 and what is in store. I have created my vision board for the year and this year one of my main focuses will be on giving....of myself, time and resources. I am so excited about it and ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
On the running front I reached my goal of running 5 miles non-stop on 12/31/11 and I felt amazing. My first race of the year will be on Sunday, January 22nd and I will be ready.
So excited because last year was my last year being fit and this year will be my very first physically fit year!

Making Adjustments
Sometimes things arise on this journey that are totally and completely out of your control. Like getting a cold. I have been fighting with this cold for the past week and I am still fighting but all in all I am progressing in keeping it clean....nutritionally that is.
If you are not able to get out and be physical you have to remain even more focused in other areas. Instead of being down about not meeting my running goals I am enjoying the fact that I am becoming more aware of what my body really needs versus what I want.
I believe that I was susceptible to getting sick because my body was tired and I wasn't getting the rest that I needed. So I have to make some adjustments but in the end it will all be worth it!

November 50 Mile Challenge
So my running goal for this month is to complete 50 miles and also run a non-stop distance of 4 miles. What I am finding on this journey is that you have to mix it up so that you never get bored. I also plan to take a few yoga classes this month that are specifically focused on those who are runners.
I talk a lot about running here but I should also mention that I combine strength training in my workouts. Recently I have neglected my strength training but I will be scheduling workout sessions to include it at least 3x's per week.
Time management for me is key right now being a new mom. So I have to incorporate activities that will get me the results that I need in a 1 hour time frame.
What are you goals for the month?

Get Off the Sideline and Get in the Game
I have many goals on this journey and ultimately I want to be in the best shape I have ever been in. It will not however, be achieved haphazardly. I have to go to a place mentally, spiritually and physically that I have never been before. I am in no way familiar with this thing that I pursue but I know me and I am confident in my ability.
I will change my life one thought at a time, one meal at a time one step at a time. There comes a time in a woman's life when you have to stop talking about what you want to do and you just have to do it.
I am officially registered for the Iron Girl 1/2 Marathon, April 22, 2012 in Clearwater, FL.
I HAVE TRAINED MY MIND AND MY BODY, WILL FOLLOW. WHO AM I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Nothing to Prove....Just Enjoying the Ride
I realized that there is a new me emerging on this journey. I can accomplish just about anything that I put my mine too if I remain confident in my ability. Over the past couple of weeks when I have set out to train I am at times nervous about completing my goal. I put pressure on myself to complete a certain mileage and time and it was beginning to become daunting. I have a long road ahead of me on this journey and I am going to need to enjoy the ride.
Yesterday, I completed 3.25 miles and it felt amazing! As I ran I thought to myself you are really doing this.....YOU ARE A RUNNER.
You can do and accomplish anything that you want. Just be confident in your ability and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Be Easy and Keep Laughing
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of interviewing a breast cancer survivor for the newsletter of a group that I am a member of Sistas in Fitness and Health (SIFH). This woman's approach to her journey back to health has been to never stop laughing. Yes life can throw some really tough situations at us but a little laughter can always renew you and is calming for the spirit.
Never stop laughing!
